About Me

Running Austin Marathon for Blue Dog Rescue 2010
I am a married thirty-something with a love for {mostly} Urban Fantasy books, fitness, and makeup. I have two rescue dogs and am very active in local Austin animal welfare groups. I was born and raised in Miami, FL and received my B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from University of Colorado at Boulder. My dreams led me to working in the tech industry in Austin, TX where I have called home now for 13 years.
In my twenties I was certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, and taught group fitness part-time such as Spin, advanced weight training, Step, you get the idea. In my thirties, I was pushed to do something I hated, which was running. Once I discovered I could actually run and not die from a panic attack, I just kept on running... and discovered I have a mad passionate love for endurance events. I am a 2009-10 Austin Distance Challenge Finisher and have the jacket to prove it! I have run the Austin Marathon a couple of times, for Blue Dog Rescue on Team Blue raising over $3K collectively for the non-profit dog rescue group. I have run many half marathons, the distance being my favorite of any race. I have done many endurance cycling events, the longest being the MS 150 ride from Houston to Austin on the Saint Arnold cycling team. And I love me some triathlons! I have done the Jack's Generic Tri and the Austin Tri, and hope to do another one soon. Being outdoors with my husband and dogs is where I prefer to be above all else, especially if running, hiking, or cycling are involved.
My book addiction as an adult has happened more recently. About six years ago, my friend kept telling me I had to read Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse series and she essentially pimped out the first 6 books to me. I was hooked. From then on, I couldn't get enough Urban Fantasy. I moved on to Laurell K Hamilton Anita Blake series, Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series, Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series, to name a few. Then I started delving more in to the PNR genre, with great authors such as Sherrilyn KenyonJ.R. WardLarissa IoneKresley Cole. In 2010, my friend Nat asked me to review Urban Fantasy and PNR books for her blog Wicked Lil Pixie, and I wrote for her until the end of 2012, thoroughly entrenching me in the awesome experience that is a book blogger. I also occasionally blogged for Heroes and Heartbreakers. Being a book blogger is one of the most fun things I have ever done. I have read so many amazing books by authors I would never have otherwise been exposed to, and have met so many awesome fellow bloggers.  In 2011 I was a blogger at the Authors After Dark in Philadelphia. In 2012 I attended AAD as an official blogger in New Orleans. I have met so many awesome people, made so many amazing friends through the book blogging experience, it blows my mind.
My husband and I are expecting our first baby (a girl!!) in August 2013.
